Our Darwin Concrete Path Services
Paths to the Clothesline and Shed
Sick of squelching through wet grass to hang out the washing? We pour a solid path from your back door to the clothesline, shed, chook pen or veggie patch. Using flexible formwork, we can curve it around trees and garden beds instead of cutting straight through.
Side Access Walkways
Side passages tend to be shady and crowded with bins, the hot water system and the aircon unit. We turn that strip into a clean, usable walkway, and we take care around meters, taps and downpipes so you can still get to everything afterwards.
Under-House Slabs and Paths
Is the space under your raised Darwin home just dirt or gravel? We pour paths and slabs between the stumps or columns, forming neatly around each one, so the area underneath becomes clean, dry and handy for storage, laundry or parking.
Stepping Stones and Feature Paths
Concrete stepping pads set into lawn, pebbles or groundcover give your garden a relaxed, resort-style feel. We pour them in place in any shape you like, finish them in exposed aggregate or colour, and space them for an easy walking stride.
Paths With Built-In Steps
If your house sits on a raised pad or the yard has a change in level, we combine path sections with formed concrete steps, so you can walk from the house to the pool, shed or lower lawn without a scramble. We keep every step the same height, making it easier for kids and older visitors.
Aprons Around the House
A concrete apron around your house keeps mulch and garden beds off the walls, gives you an edge that's easy to sweep, and offers a dry spot to stand when you're at the windows, taps or hose. It also neatens up that strip under the eaves where grass won't grow.
Planning a New Path Around Your Darwin Home
Tired of muddy tracks worn through the lawn? A well-placed path makes getting around your yard easier in every season. Planning one with us is relaxed and practical, and getting started only takes a few minutes.
- Draw the route: Sketch the path from your door to the gate, clothesline or shed, add rough lengths, and mark any steps or garden beds on the way.
- Drop us a line: Use our contact form or email to let us know how wide you'd like the path and any finish that's caught your eye.
- Walk it with us on site: We'll check where water sits after heavy rain, so the falls and edges carry it away from your new path.
Monsoon rain will find any weak spot in a path, so ours go down on compacted bases with sensible falls and well-placed control joints. We protect your lawn and plants while we work and leave the yard tidy when we're done. Ask for your free quote today, and we'll plan a path around how you really use your yard.
Why Darwin Homeowners Choose Us for Paths
We Respect Weep Holes and Termite Barriers
Pour a path tight against your house and it can block weep holes, cover the damp course or bridge a termite barrier. We keep our levels below these, and leave any inspection edge visible, so your new path never causes trouble for your home.
Grip in Shady, Damp Areas
Side passages and under-house paths hardly get any sun, so they stay damp and grow algae in Darwin's humidity. We give these areas a textured broom finish, add extra grip on ramps and steps, and can recommend a sealer that helps mould wash off easily.
Steel Where the Ground Is Soft
Paths crossing old fill, soggy ground or a former garden bed are the most likely to move. We add reinforcing mesh to hold the slab together, so if a crack ever forms, both sides stay level and you won't stub a toe on it.
Neatly Planned Joints
Concrete shrinks a bit as it cures, so we plan the joints carefully, spaced evenly and lined up with steps, corners and gateways. They end up looking like part of the design, not a scatter of random cuts.
Firm, Well-Supported Edges
Path edges with nothing behind them slowly chip and crumble into the garden. We form clean, square edges and pack soil or edging firmly against them once the formwork is off, so your path keeps a crisp line as the garden grows in.
Every Path Done Properly
A short path to the clothesline gets the same base prep, compaction and finishing as a full driveway. Small jobs are where shortcuts tend to happen, and they're often the ones that crack or sink after a few wet seasons.

Concrete Path FAQs
Thinking about a new path in Darwin? These are the questions we get asked most: ideal width, pricing, matching old concrete, preventing cracks and when you can use it.
About 900 mm is the narrowest width that feels comfortable for one person, and a full metre feels a lot better. If two people will walk side by side, or you need to fit bins, a wheelbarrow, a pram or a mobility aid, go for 1.2 metres or more. Your front path deserves the most width, since that's how guests arrive and a narrow path there can look a bit mean. Paths to the bins or clothesline can be narrower, though if there are ramps or level changes, a little extra width makes turning and stepping easier.
Mainly by the square metre, so width counts just as much as length. Then we factor in the digging, any ironstone we need to break through, whether mesh is needed, the finish you choose and how easily the concrete can reach the spot. Many Darwin homes have narrow side access, which might mean barrowing or using a line pump. Concrete suppliers also charge extra for small loads, so a short path on its own can work out pricey. Combining a few small jobs, like a path, a bin pad and a step, into one pour is much better value. We'll give you an accurate quote once we've seen your site.
It'll be close, but rarely perfect, and it's good to know that going in. Older concrete has faded and picked up stains over the years, while new concrete starts out much lighter. The difference shrinks as the new path weathers, but it won't completely disappear. If you want them to look the same, we can add an oxide to the new mix to get closer to the old colour, or coat both old and new with a resurfacing system for an even finish. Sometimes a deliberate contrast, like a coloured border or different texture, actually looks better than a near-miss.
Most cracked paths have actually sunk. That's why we start by removing soft soil and laying a well-compacted road base, since a poor base causes more problems than anything else. Next, we add reinforcement where the path crosses fill or soft, slow-draining ground, which is common around Darwin, where soil gets soaked through the wet and dries out in the dry. The mesh keeps both sides of any crack together. Lastly, we cut control joints at sensible spacings so normal shrinkage shows up in a tidy line. All concrete cracks a little, so the goal is to control where it happens and stop it becoming a trip hazard.
Usually after 24 to 48 hours for light foot traffic, but stay off the edges a bit longer as they're the last part to harden. Concrete reaches its design strength after about 28 days, though that matters less for a path than a driveway, since nothing heavy will drive on it. In the Darwin heat, we keep the surface damp or covered to slow the drying, and if a storm comes through we cover it again, so allow a bit of flexibility. If the path is your only way into the house, we'll pour it in stages, often two sections, so you can always get in and out.
